Tips & Tricks of today - Lips

Hey everyone. Okay today i am feeling mega tired. Me and sumaiya were tempted to take an afternoon nap at 2pm today because we were shattered so i was actually going to go to sleep without doing a post HOWEVER i have received SO MUCH POSITIVE FEEDBACK for the blog today. So much love and so much support that it motivated me to do one post before bed time. Okay so todays post is inspired by Angelina Jolie and her bee stung lips. Big lips make a woman appear sexier, youthful & feminine. Not blessed with the perfect pout? Here are our tips to plump up the volume! Read on Girls.

PLUMP IT UP!

TIP OF THE DAY!

Number 1 : PREP THAT POUT!
Exfoliate before applying colour to ensure lips are soft and smooth. There are exfoliating lip scrubs available from chemists, I use my normal nivea cleansing wipes daily. Then swipe a brush over your lips with translucent powder or just your normal foundation brush will do to get rid of moisture.

Number 2: LINE THOSE LIPS:

My secret weapon for a younger-looking pout - it's like a Wonderbra for the lips. No one has a perfectly symmetrical mouth, not even the most gorgeous celebs. This is why lipliner gives the impression of plumping your lips instantly by making them look bigger, while correcting and enhancing the shape and stopping lipstick bleeding.
When applying lip liner, you need to be firm enough to create emphasis without dragging and yet soft enough to give a good shape. Apply lipliner on the outer edge of your natural lip line... you can even move it out a fraction to give the illusion of a fuller mouth.  Only a tiny bit though girls.

Where lipstick is concerned, the important thing is not color, but to

accept God's final word on where your lips end.

To make colour last longer, fill in the rest of the mouth with lip liner before applying your lipstick. AND make the lipliner either a very similar colour to your lipstick or lighter NEVER darker this will make your lips look smaller.

Number 3 : USE LIPSTICK & GLOSS
Apply your lipstick, using a lip brush is the best bet as you will get more precision.

Dab your lips with a tissue after the first lipstick application and then reapply a second time to make the colour last. The best way of applying lipgloss is gliding it over lips... it is great for lip plumping because it allows light to reflect from the surface of the lip, giving the illusion of fullness and depth.

REMEMBER: Lighter colours work wonders to make lips look fuller. Darker colours will make lips look smaller.

Number 4: Highlighter!

Finally give even more depth to lips by using a shimmer highlighter or white/clear shimmer powder. Dab lightly with your fingertip to the outer edge and centre of your  lips. This gives you a fuller lips instantly and adds definition.

Tadaaaaaaaa you have a perfect pout!

Awesome Trick of the day!

*Psssssssst* Mariah carey actually uses this trick before she goes out on big events

If you want to create your own lip plumping balm but you're on a budget here is the recipe. This is such an effective method without spending loads of money

1. get an empty bowl
2. Get a scoop of vaseline and put it into the bowl
3. Add either peppermint extract or cinnamon extract which you can easily get your hands on from Asda or any supermarket.
4. Mix it all together
5. Put it on your lips as you would apply a normal lip balm

Feel all the blood rush to your lips
It makes them look extra plum and you can actually feel it tingling in your lips.

Don't believe me? Give it a try.

Illamasqua obsession!!

Okay so a few people have asked me which products i LOVE right now! Well mine and Sumaiya's ABSOLUTE fave lipstick that you will see us wearing EVERY DAY is

illamasqua - Test  £15

it is a soft pinky nudey matt finish lipstick and it lasts allll day!! It is our ultimate obsession! We actually bought this without each other and when we realized we both have it and both wear it so religiously we were pretty impressed with how freakishly similar our taste is.

My summer fave this year is also Illamasqua - Over £15

Here is a picture of them both on my arm.

Okay i took this picture on my Blackberry Torch 5.0 MP camera as it was actually better than my digital 12.2MP one to capture the colour of the two lipsticks. I think i need someone to sort out the settings on that camera anyhoooo i have just realised i have an arm full of lipstick and JUST finished my makeup wipes today.  GREAT!!! hahhaa such an uncool situation. Anyway i LOVE illamasqua lipsticks....they are super waxy and matt and stay on better than ANY lipstick i have ever come across. Usually i honestly cannot tell the difference between drugstore lipsticks and more expensive ones but this is definitely a great value for your money.

Illamasqua products can be purchased from Selfridges, House of Fraser, Debenhams, Asos, Fenwick, Sephora, Charles Fox, Wigs up north, Areej, Myer, Bloomingdales & Galeries Lafayette

p.s i am wearing Illamasqua - test in this picture. It is actually more pink than nude in real life. Also excuse how tired and scruffy i look. It was a long boring day at work but who says thats an excuse for a girl not to pose and take a picture of herself ;)

Review

Hey everyone!! Today i will be reviewing a product that i actually got free in this month's Glamour Magazine! It is the posie tint in poppy-pink.

Now the 1st thought i had when i got it was it would be cool for when we go swimming as it's a lip and cheek stain and it should stay on if it got wet. It also thought it would be cool for those of you going on holiday as makeup usually comes off easily in humid conditions. It would be a great item to wear on the beach too. The only thing i didn't like about this item was that it states that it is poppy pink which is supposed to be a light pink colour. However when i applied it on my lips it looked like a really dark pink....Almost red. When i got this one in the magazine i was actually excited about the fact that it was poppy pink as i am going through a summery light pink lipstick phase. I was disappointed when it wasnt the shade i expected however it is still a good product to use as it is eat/drink/kiss proof. Also if you apply less of the product it would be lighter anyway. It was just me who applied loads so it was bound to be darker. Duhh. However i have a picture of the product and you can judge for yourselves if it is the shade of pink you are going for.
The product was not drying or anything. My lips felt soft afterwards and you can always apply lip balm or gloss over the top to boost the look of your lips as it dries quite matt. It comes with a lip brush applicator as you can see. It is currently selling at £24.50 in Boots. I know Selfridges, Debenhams and Asos also sell the product.

Tip of the day!

Lip Tip!

Remember the condition and appearance of your lipstick depends on the condition of your lips. If you don't look after your lips your lipstick will not appear as smooth.

1. Don't lick your lips too much. It dries them out and it causes them to chap and crack.
2. Try gentle exfoliation at least once a week to help shed some of the built up dead skin on your lips. This will stimulate cell turnover and help keep lips looking smooth, soft and healthy. Be warned though, you should NEVER exfoliate sun burned, cracked or damaged lips. I usually use a makeup wipe to exfoliate my lips every day.
3. Keep lips moisturized throughout the day with lip balms etc. I never go ANYWHERE without my vaseline. It never leaves my side no matter where i am. I am obsessed with applying it every 10 minutes.
4. Try to use a deep moisturizing herbal lip balm at night while you sleep. You'll awake with soft, kissable lips!
